Ahead of the August 9, governorship election in Osun State, a member representing Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo Otin Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Adeyinka Ajayi, has implored youths in the state to support the re-election bid of Governor Aregbesola.
He argued that giving Aregbesola, who is the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the poll their maximum support, would enable him implement more live-changing programmes, capable of guaranteeing a viable future for the youth in the state.
Ajayi, who made the appeal during the graduation ceremony for some youths sponsored for training in different vocations in Ikirun, the headquarters of Ifelodun Local Government, Ajayi said the empowerment of about 500 youths selected across wards in the local government areas that made up his constituency was tailored after similar empowerment programmes by the APC-led administration in the state.
While applauding the governor for evolving policies aimed at growing entrepreneurship potentials of youth in the state, the lawmaker noted that the implementation of some carefully designed programmes like Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme (OYES), O’ Reap, O’ Meal and training of youths in various vocations, had already opened avenues to earn decent living for many youths and artisans in the state.
He, therefore, pleaded with the electorate to ensure total commitment to the re-election bid of Aregbesola to enable him continue with the implementation of programmes that would have direct and positive impact on the entire populace.
Presenting certificates to the beneficiaries, the Chief of Staff to the governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola lauded Ajayi for giving dividends of democracy back to the people of his constituency, stressing that the empowerment initiative keyed into the efforts of the present administration in creating employment opportunities to banish hunger and poverty.
The Chief of Staff assured that more empowerment initiatives were being planned by Aregbesola’s administration to complement efforts of some other leaders of the party in the state, just as he called for support of the electorate in the federal constituency to return the governor to office for another term on August 9.
