A federal lawmaker from Osun state, Hon. Adeyinka Ajayi, has commended the Osun State government for devising policies targeted at developing entrepreneurship potentials of youth in the state.
Ajayi noted that the administration of Governor Rauf Aregbesola, through implementation of some carefully designed programmes like Osun Youth Empowerment Scheme, OYES, O’Reap, O’Meal and training of youths in various vocations, have opened avenues to earn decent living for many youth and artisans in the state.
Speaking during the empowerment programme organised for his constituents in Ikirun, the headquarters of Ifelodun local government, Ajayi who is representing Ifelodun/Boripe/Odo Otin Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, said the empowerment of about 500 youth selected across wards in the local government areas making up the constituency, was fashioned after similar empowerment programmes by the governor.
According to him, the beneficiaries, having undergone training in vocations like fashion designing, hair dressing, shoe making, interior decoration among others, were being empowered with necessary implements to start their vocations.
He called on the electorate to ensure total commitment to the reelection bid of Governor Aregbesola to enable him continue with implementation of programmes that would have direct and positive impact on the entire populace.
Presenting certificates to the trainees, the Chief of Staff to the governor, Alhaji Gboyega Oyetola, who commended Ajayi for giving dividend of democracy back to the people of his constituency, said the empowerment initiative keys into the efforts of the present administration to create job to banish hunger and poverty.
Oyetola said more empowerment initiatives are being planned by Aregbesola’s administration to complement efforts of some other leaders of the party in the state like the federal parliamentarian and called for support of electorate in the federal constituency to return the governor to office for another term on August 9.
Beneficiaries of the empowerment were given implements such as driers, sewing machines, generators and shoe-making machines to start their vocations.
