The current head of the Executive is Ogbeni Rauf Adesoji Aregbesola, the Executive Governor of the State of Osun.
The Executive is the part of government at the State that has sole authority and responsibility for the daily administration of the State. The executive branch executes the laws that are passed by the Legislative arm.
The power of the Executive arm of government is vested in the Governor of the State who is also the Chief Security Officer in the State. This vested power can be exercised either directly or indirectly through the Deputy Governor or Commissioners of the government of the State or officers in the public service of the State. He also has the authority to appoint or dismiss cabinet members and officials. This branch of government also includes the Deputy Governor and other officials such as members of cabinet. The Deputy Governor stands in for the Executive Governor and can assume the governorship position when the need arises.
This branch of government works hand in hand with other arms of government and is to exercise the power so as to protect interest of the Federal Government.
